Bee School is Coming! Join us March 16, 2024. Learn More
Bee season is here! The girls are bringing in pollen and nectar, building up their colonies and getting ready for warmer days ahead. The club is having a season Kick-off meeting on March 26, 9-10:30 a.m. We're planning some fun activities, information and elections.
How are your smoker lighting skills? You have a week to practice! We are having a smoker lighting contest and the winner will get a $75 gift certificate from one of our very generous sponsors. You will have 5 minutes to light your smoker and get it going. We will go inside for our meeting and in 30 minutes we will check whose smoker is still lit with cool, bee appropriate smoke. Are you the smoker champ? Show us your stuff! Share your favorite fuels and lighting techniques. Donkey dung, anyone?
KBBA will also be having our annual elections for the Board. The slate is: Lorena Corzatt, president, Terri Torres, vice president, Christy VanRooyen, secretary, Donna Schmerbach, treasurer and John Wilda, member at large. The Board is in charge of programming, bee orders, events and making sure the ship is sailing. We would love to have one or two more members at large. You don't need beekeeping experience, just a willingness to share your ideas. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the slate.
Bee orders are due on March 26. Remember we have Italians, Carnis and Survivor Stock available this year. March 26 is the last day to order AND pay for your bees. You can do it right here: Order Bees. You can also order and pay at the meeting with cash or check.
KBBA had a terrific turn out for Bee School. Please come and welcome our newest beekeepers. Several of them have expressed interest in having a mentor. Is that you?
We're looking forward to seeing you!
